Key answer
A banking or fintech FX brief should identify the decision, customer segment, product, corridor, required freshness and permitted use. Provider names alone are not enough to select a dataset or establish product availability.

Treasury needs and retail comparisons are different
A treasury valuation process may need a clearly defined historical reference series. A retail pricing team may need observed transaction quotes for a specific customer segment. A fintech product team may need funding methods, payout constraints and quote-validity information. Establish which of these questions is being answered before comparing datasets; otherwise a technically complete feed may still be unsuitable for the intended decision.
Distinguish institutions from their products
One institution can offer several products with different customer eligibility, amount limits, delivery conditions and pricing. Keep institution identity, legal entity and product identity separate. A research directory entry does not prove that an API is available or that the product can be used by a particular customer. Record the evidence behind each product claim and the date on which it was checked.
Define acceptance tests before integration
Ask for an example observation with timestamps, units, product context, missing-value conventions and a rights decision. Test a normal response, an empty result, a stale observation, a permission failure and a removed product. These cases expose whether downstream charts will remain truthful when the data are incomplete. A successful HTTP response is only a transport check, not confirmation that the data answer a banking research question.
Turn the brief into a reviewable workstream
A useful deliverable names the decision owner, source owner, quality thresholds, exception handling and review cadence. Separate public explanatory material from private analytical evidence. Do not publish customer-level financial records to improve search visibility. MFXIntel provides research and data-design context on this website; exact private services, integrations and availability need to be confirmed rather than inferred from a general banking or fintech label.
