A zero fee is not a complete cost analysis
A transfer product can disclose no fixed fee while using an exchange rate different from a selected reference benchmark. Conversely, a product with an explicit fee may deliver a different recipient outcome. Compare the complete transaction where sufficient evidence exists, rather than ranking one isolated component.
Choose and preserve a reference
Any estimated exchange-rate margin depends on the reference rate and observation time used. Record both and avoid mixing observations from materially different times without explanation. Keep the original provider quote separate from derived calculations so that another analyst can reproduce the comparison.
Account for missing components
Funding charges, taxes and recipient deductions should be included only when they are documented for the transaction. Unknown components remain unknown. If the available evidence does not support an all-in comparison, label the result as partial rather than claiming a cheapest provider.
Publish a method alongside the result
A helpful comparison explains its amount, corridor, funding and payout assumptions and the observation’s validity. Methodology pages, source links and explicit uncertainty are part of the product, not fine print to be added after a ranking has already been published.
